Double standing seam – SSAB Matt

A double standing seam roof is the classic metal roof with no visible screws. Panels are joined lengthwise with a double-folded seam closed with a special tool – the joint stays tight even at a 3° pitch. Panels are made to length, including very long ones.

Finish: double-sided matt-coated Swedish SSAB steel (Double Matt), 0.6 mm.

SSAB panels are produced in ROOFER’s own production – we buy Swedish SSAB GreenCoat® steel coils and make the panels to your dimensions.

Why double standing seam

Not a single visible screw or nail – water has nowhere to get in.
The double-folded seam is the tightest joint among metal roofs – suitable even for a 3° pitch.
Sheets run the full length of the slope – no cross joints.
Hidden clip fixing lets the sheet expand in heat and cold without deforming.

SSAB steel warranty

SSAB double-sided coated Matt: 20-year warranty for colour and corrosion. This is the same double-sided coated Swedish SSAB steel BILKA uses for its rainwater system – with the same warranty.

The steel is galvanised on both sides (275 g/m²) and painted on both sides – the colour is the same on top and underneath, which suits visible eaves, canopies and facades.

Key guarantee conditions

roof pitch at least 1:16 (3.6°) and water must run off freely;
no cutting with an angle grinder or any tool that heats the metal;
the material is not stored outdoors without shelter before installation;
suitable fasteners and sealants are used; scratches are touched up straight away;
the roof is cleaned and inspected yearly and the inspections are documented;
the guarantee does not apply in highly polluted, industrial or coastal environments (C4–C5 per ISO 9223).

SSAB steel is made in Hämeenlinna, Finland, by SSAB Europe Oy. Every coil carries a factory label with the steel grade, coating, colour, dimensions and coil number – so the material can be traced back to production.

ROOFER tips

Seam panels are laid on solid boarding or close battens with an underlay – the roof stays quiet and protected from condensation.
Cut with metal shears or a nibbler, not an angle grinder – sparks burn the coating.
Remove the protective film straight after installation.
Use flashings and fasteners in the same colour and coating as the panels.

Delivery, unloading and storage

Two delivery options for double seam

1. Ready-made panels. We make the panels and deliver them to your site. Unloading and storage are the same as for metal tiles – see below.

2. On-site production. We come to the site with the machine and the coil and produce the double seam right there – exactly as many panels as needed, with single sheets 7, 8, 10, 15 m long or more. Long sheets need no transport and the slope is covered with no cross joints – the big advantage of double seam.

Agree the option, the lengths and site access with our manager.

Delivery throughout Bulgaria. ROOFER arranges transport of the panels to your site. Panel-length restrictions apply — confirm the permitted dimensions and delivery arrangements with our manager before ordering.

Before unloading. Agree on vehicle access to the site and the unloading method in advance, especially for long panels.

Unloading team. The customer arranges unloading and provides the people. For long panels plan for at least 2–3 people. Carry panels on edge and never drag them.

Inspection on arrival. Check the products against the delivery documents and look for visible damage or missing items.

Before installation. Store the panels in a dry, ventilated place on stable supports above the ground, and keep moisture from collecting between them and inside the packaging.
